The Letter from Birmingham Jail Essay -- Martin Luther King

On April 16, 1963, from a prison in Birmingham, Alabama, Martin Luther King Jr. made a broad letter to eight pastors who denounced the planning of the social equality development. Despite the fact that the letter was routed to these eight priests, the Letter from Birmingham Jail addresses a national crowd, particularly King’s â€Å"Christian and Jewish brothers†(King, 29). His serene however firm letter fills in as an amazingly influential voice to a gigantically disorderly wreckage, and is viewed as a significant defining moment in the social equality development. Ruler accepts that without direct activity, the full rights for African Americans would never be accomplished. He guards the restlessness of individuals in the social equality development, maintaining that without compelling shows, correspondence will never be reached. Lord maintains that human rights must outweigh uncalled for laws. His expressive language and utilization of traditional argumentation put for th his defense versatile and persuading. King’s master utilization of emotion summons outrage, compassion and sympathy; his faultless utilization of logos made his contention sane to all; and his utilization of ethos, particularly his utilization of scriptural references, makes his feelings increasingly legitimate. Through his distinctive depictions, enthusiastic tone, and expressive models, King’s contentions inspire a passionate reaction in his perusers. King’s utilization of feeling enables him to move individual social liberties activists, summon sympathy in white moderates, and make empathy in the brains of the eight priests and the remainder of his national crowd. Ruler looks to decrease the hostility of white residents while rejuvenating the enthusiasm for peaceful dissent in the brains of African Americans. Lord alerts, â€Å"injustice anyplace is a danger to equity everywhere† (K... ...ivil rights development. By and large, I trust King’s letter his incredibly persuasive because of his flawless utilization of contention inside it, fusing logos, feeling and ethos. As I would like to think, King’s utilization of poignancy is one of the elements behind the accomplishment of his letter. In spite of the fact that his letter was routed to the eight priests, I accept that King expected for the whole country to understand it and respond to it. The assortment of scholarly gadgets in his letter makes King sound wise and persuading. Then again, I accept that King consolidates an excess of similar sounding word usage inside his letter; commonly, King makes a recorded or scriptural reference without diving into its pertinence or importance, leaving the peruser scrutinizing his aims. As I would like to think, if King would have portrayed these similar sounding word usages more or, rather, left them out completely, his contention would be more profound.

Then again, keeping the laborers obscure about the adjustments in workplace is definitely not a smart thought towards sticking to the moral practices since laborers are additionally significant partners of the organizations (Draper, 2010). Concealing data about the work environment changes by the supervisors will straightforwardly affect upon the relationship of trust among administrators and laborers. Accuracy or keeping up straightforwardness with the laborers by the directors is likely the best technique for building and supporting the trust. Prothombin Time (PT) and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT)

Question: Examine about the Lab Report On Prothrombin Time (Pt) And Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (Aptt)? Answer: Point The essential point of the examination is to decide the prothombin time (PT) and actuated halfway thromboplastin time (APTT) from the provided plasma tests. Presentation The whole system of blood coagulation comprises of different mind boggling and dynamic connections of platelets and blood plasma inside the blood vessels(Polin, Fox and Abman, 2011). Blood coagulation plays a significant commitment for haemostatic procedure and harm of protein divider results in activationof protein lipase catalyst and the last items become insoluble fibrin(Antovic and Blomback, 2010). The essential comprehension of the coagulation pathway is to decide the prothombin and thromboplastin time results. For incomplete thromboplastin test there are for the most part three classifications are available, for example, inherent framework, extraneous framework and normal pathway. In this specific setting, the cutting edge coagulation finding process has been viably with prothombin time (PT) and actuated halfway thromboplastin time (aPTT)(Blomback and Antovic, 2009). The patients tests have been gathered completely and it helps in the recognition of significant issue identified with anticoagulation and thickening time. Speculation The impact of the progressions of convergence of calcium chloride in the blood tests is legitimately relative to the Prothrombin Time (PT) and the Activated Prothrombin Time (APTT). Strategies PT test was performed on the plasma arranged from the gathered blood tests and to play out the test adequately the underlying game plans were made. During the assortment of blood, acid citrate dextrose is taken as anticoagulant(Tondre and Lebegue, 2010). Hence, the detachment of plasma and red cells are imaginatively done and five sound contributors were taken for the blood tests and from that point onward, plasma was apportioned into 5ml aliquots and solidified for the further procedure of the experiment(Oral Communication 3: Xeno Immunology - Non-Gal Antibodies and Coagulations (1), 2013). At that point the plasma was hatched and CaCl2 is the additional in standard interim and wanted outcomes has been gathered (Oral Communication 5: Experimental Models and Non-Gal Antibodies and Coagulations (2), 2013).Statistical programming has been used for thiscase to play out a few factual trial of the gathered examples. Second gatherings of tests were gathered for halfway thromboplastin time conclusion, which is otherwise called Activated Prothrombin Time test (APTT). While, in Prothrombin time test, Calcium Chloride was included request to decide the time taken for coagulation, in APTT, initiated components are included with the groupings of calcium chloride. The examples are required top decalcified previously with the goal that they don't coagulate rashly. The example is plasma isolated by centrifuging. The initiated operators included are kaolin and cephalin. While kaolin attempts to enact the Factor XII and the cephalin fills in as an option in contrast to the platelet phospholipids. In typical examples, the inexact time taken to cluster is around 35 seconds. Results PT results The standard convergence of CaCl2 is 0.025M. In this specific setting, distinctive grouping of CaCl2 was added to each blood tests with various period and wanted outcomes have been gathered. The theory considered before the tests put down a straightforwardly corresponding connection between the two. As the centralization of Calcium chloride was expanded in the investigation of heparinized plasma, the APTT proportion demonstrated an in like manner increment. The Calcium chloride focuses recalcified the plasma-isolated examples and filled in as a noteworthy variable to control and alter the affectability of the heparin part of APTT. An examine of 0.025 mol/L focuses demonstrated expanded APTT. Along these lines, the test outcomes showed a positive worry to the thought about theory. End The analysis gives an unmistakable and succinct thought with respect to the PT and aPTT time for the given blood tests and from this, variety in coagulation of blood of various five solid people are distinguished. It is clear from the examination that expansion in CaCl2 fixation brings about decreasing the PT an aPTT time of blood plasma. References Antovic, J. what's more, Blomback, M. How To Improve Your Memory

If memory serves you right, you may still remember what you had for breakfast even two weeks ago. However, not everyone has the luxury of a sharp memory. Students seem to comprise the largest group of people who constantly need an enhanced memory for good academic progress. An adult already possesses sufficient knowledge and information they need to go by day to day. Meanwhile, a students life is composed of learning, presentations, quizzes, and exams. They always need to pack information inside their head to pass classes, and its not easy when they juggle multiple classes each week. Many students suffer memory problems and deficits in registering information regardless of how much they try to study. When youre writing a research paper, you have the luxury of notes and sources available to you for a quick look, but thats not the case when you take an exam. Students who have memory problems tend to struggle during exams and impromptu class recitations, especially with factual informati on like dates, formulas, or the common grammar rules to avoid mistakes. Sometimes no matter how much a student studies beforehand, they still have issues with keeping all the information in mind. There are tricks, techniques, and tips you can follow if you are among the students who struggle with their memory. Enhancing your memory is essential to academic success, and it can be achieved. Although you struggle with receiving, processing, and retrieving information, that does not mean you should not at least try improving it.Make notes while reading and learningUnderline or highlight important information when you are reading, or you can write them in a separate sheet. Create outlines and graphics when you write it down. When you have your readings in a separated and easy-to-read note, you can easily go over them multiple times and hopefully it will help you remember easily. You can also make use of the handouts prepared by your teacher or professor as they may be designed to help stu dents understand their discussion easier.Use acronyms or mnemonicsMnemonics is an effective and fun way to memorize a set of words or information. One example is the mnemonic illustration of the order of planets from Mercy, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto to My Very Excellent Method: Just So you Understand Nine Planets. This is a simple but effective strategy when memorizing.Over-learn newly obtained informationIf you have trouble with your memory, then over-learning is a technique you should employ. Learning something by heart is not enough if you have memory deficits you have to memorize something over and over again until it becomes indelibly instilled in your memory. The repetitive pattern will help your brain get used to the information you are trying to digest, and eventually it will remain in your memory easily.Exercise and consume healthy foodA study shows cardio exercises help you sustain good memory. Exercise helps your brain remain sharp a nd it reduces stress hormones, improves mood, concentration, and alertness. If exercise is partnered with nutrient-rich and brain food, like blueberries, walnuts, whole grains, fish, or olive oil, your memory will likely improve. Avoid eating junk foods and food abundant in saturated fats and trans fats as they are found to be bane for a students brain. Studies also show these kinds of food lower the bodys resistance to Alzheimers disease and other long-term cognitive conditions.Improve your focusBefore you study, make sure you get rid of every possible disturbance or interruption. Put your phone on silent, let your family or roommates know you are studying, and get rid of any sign of noise. Students face many distractions every time they study and these hinder them from focusing entirely on the information they are trying to obtain. It is found that its easier for students to memorize and study when they pay close attention to it. It should help to find a study spot where you are fa r from any possible distractions.Get enough sleepMost students sacrifice sleep to pull an all-nighter for studying, however, this method is proven to be harmful for students. When your body and brain are tired, chances are your attempts to study and memorize information will be futile. Lack of sleep negatively affects memory and other cognitive abilities. At least seven to eight hours of sleep each night is advised for students to have a healthy and functioning brain.Review materials before bedLook over your notes before you hit the hay. Proper sleep after studying have positive effects to your memory, and it will help your ability to retain information. Aside from that, skimming through your notes as you attempt to fall asleep will likely help you with that goal because most of us seem to feel sleepier when they are studying.Study through visual and verbal formatsIf you do not think its effective to just reading and looking at your notes, try reading them out loud. This way, hearin g the information being said might be able to help you process the information with less restraints. There are different effects of understanding and reading information from simply reading to reading it out loud. Either of the two might help improve your memory.Keep in touch with your social networkStudies show that having friends have cognitive benefits. Go online and reach out to group chats or individual friends, get updated with their life as you let them know about yours. Somehow, exercising your brain to remember details about your friends will also help improve your memory when it comes to studying and retaining academic information.Avoid stressing yourselfChronic stress harms brain cells and damages the hippocampus, the part of the brain which helps form new memories and retrieval of old ones. Stress is linked to memory loss, according to some studies. To avoid stress, you must look for ways to have fun and have a laugh. Surround yourself with people who will help lighten u p your mood and give you a good time. The Pros and Cons of Welfare Reform Essay - 2384 Words

The Pros and Cons of Welfare Reform There have been numerous debates within the last decade over what needs to be done about welfare and what is the best welfare reform plan. In the mid-1990s the TANF, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Act was proposed under the Clinton administration. This plan was not received well since it had put a five year lifetime limit on receiving welfare and did not supply the necessary accommodations to help people in poverty follow this guideline. Under the impression that people could easily have found a job and worked their way out of poverty in five years, the plan was passed in 1996 and people in poverty were immediately forced to start looking for jobs. When the TANF Act was up for†¦show more content†¦Many different forms of logos are used in the liberal argument but most of the logos is soaked in pathos making their argument truly heart-felt. Types of logos used are cause and effect, facts and statistics, and arguments by definition. There is a fair balance betwe en each type of logos argument used. The main argument that is made by the liberals is that many people simply want ?assistance? from the government; they don?t want to be ?dependent? on the government. This is an argument of definition that is strongly supported in the Mother Jones article ?Without a Safety Net.? In this article they state that ?poor single mothers had their own form of unemployment insurance--welfare. Most welfare recipients worked . . . falling back on public assistance when a child got sick or a car broke down? (Enreneich and Piven). It becomes clear that the liberals want to help the poor along with helping them get on the road to supporting themselves. Since most of the jobs available to people in poverty pay minimum wage, they can not support their families on the seven or eight dollars an hour salary they receive. Minimum wage is almost half as much as is necessary to provide the bare necessities for a family of three. Now a days each and every customers are always keep the hygienic factor in their top most priority( Bucchi, and Trench, Eds.2014). So, to keep their customers satisfied and also keep their place up to dated and hygienic the managers have to always keep themselves in touch with the food science technologists who will tell them how to keep everything perfect. The food science technologists need to keep contact with the suppliers who are delivering the raw materials to the hotels and restaurants. They have to give them strict instructions that they should supply fresh food and also should maintain the hygiene and the cold storage where the restaurant owners and hotels owners are keeping their raw materials need to be clean so that the food should be fresh and none of the raw materials should be worm affected. The food which are being kept in the cold storage need to be checked on a daily basis that no of them are not getting rotten because if one of the items start getting affected by the worms then it will rot other raw materials also and these will create a big problem for the owners of the restaurants and hotels. The food science technologists should organize events and give workshops to the students of this course that how to keep the standard of the food qualities (Sun, Ed.2012). They also should organize events for the customers and show them that how they are keeping the hygiene factors for restaurants and hotels and how they take care of the raw materials in their cold storage and from where they are buying their raw materials which they are using in their hotels and also maintaining the hygiene factors of their respective kitchen. This events or the workshop will help the customers to understand that how they maintain their kitchen keeping in mind about the hygiene factors for their customers. The food science technologists goes for one to one talk with the managers and tell them about their view of checking the food qualities which they are serving t o their customers and guests and also listens to the managers view and also what steps they are taking for maintaining the food qualities of their place (Campbell-Platt, 2009). When the parents comes with their wards to the restaurants then the food science technologists have to talk with them how the restaurant are keeping their hygiene factors so that the parents do not have to think about the hygiene factors maintained in the restaurants and they also suggests the parents by what steps they can keep their home more hygienic and also the food which can be kept germ free and keep their wards away from diseases. They can give the parents a course on nutrition so that they can make their wards eat nutritious food but now a days keeps running away from healthy foods and always wants to have unhealthy and junk foods. So, the technologists can teach the parents to make the nutritious food tasty so that the wards do not create any problem while having them (Rockland, and Stewart Eds 2013 ). The food technologists should have a session with a group of kids and tell them about the hygienic food which they should have to keep themselves healthy and fit so that they can become a famous sportsman in their future. The technologists should also tell the kids about all the positive and goods things they should do to keep them fit and healthy (Rao, and Ahmed,Eds. 2014).. The food technologists can also give cooking sessions to the parents and also to food stall owners and chefs on how to maintain the qualities of the food so that the main healthy factors within the food remains and do not wash away while washing the foods and also while cooking them (Walstra, and Geurts, 2014). The food technologists should also write in bulletins so that they can give their messages to all those people also with whom they cannot contact face to face and make them aware of the hygienic sense of the food qualities so that they can maintain the food qualities at home and also in their work pla ce i.e. in restaurants and hotels (Stumbo, 2013). The food technologists should also manage web pages where they can give their important inputs to the whole world about food qualities and how the people should maintain the food qualities. They also responds to the emails and newsletters which the common people send them asking about the quires and the technologists tries to solve their queries as much as they can (Li-Chan, and Griffiths,Eds .2011). The technologists should have a good communication skill which will help them for communicating with the cooks of the restaurants and the managers of the hotels and restaurants. They should possess the ability of working in a team because they have to work in a team and they should also be flexible with their work timing because they might be needed at any place at any point of time. As they have to work online also so they need to be good in their IT skills and with team work they also should have the ability in partnership working (Gra nato, and Jarvis, 2014).As a food technologists they should always be on phone as they have to travel a lot away from home so they can be connected at anytime and anywhere with their queries. To reach a lot of people and tell them about the food qualities and how they should maintain the hygiene factors to keep themselves fit and healthy so they should attend lot of conferences and seminars and make the people aware about all this factors. They should always be updated with the latest researches which are being taking place so that while going for a conference and seminars they can inform the audience about the latest techniques the food science departments are inventing for keeping the food qualities better and hygienic. They travel to various restaurants and hotels and test the taste and also the food quality and they are maintaining the hygiene factors or not and on that they will be writing the report and then submit it to the ministry and any hotel or restaurant owners are foun d guilty then they are penalized. They also keeps check on the suppliers that whether they are sending good quality raw materials or not and the place where they are keeping the food are maintaining the hygienic factors or not and they also have to keep the link between the laboratories where the food qualities are tested and also with the technical department where the whole processing takes place till the distribution part so that the foods are safe for having. As a professional food science technologist, I also have to maintain these roles which a professional technologist maintains but the company where I work is situated in Birmingham and this company is among the niche sectors and the role played by this company is from the storage to the distribution of the meat processing. This company is a meat processing plant where the processing of different types of meat is done (Markakis, Ed.2012). This company supplies meat to all the hotels, restaurants of that area. They have to maintain the quality of the food so that its hygiene factor is maintained and does not affect the health of the people who are consuming this meat. The role or the position that is been maintained by me in these company is of the technical assistant. I am the line manager of the technical department so I have to actively involve myself in all other departments also (Taylor, 2012). So, the work which I have to look after is the procedures and the policies of the compan y are well maintained by the employees or not. I also have to maintain the record sheets of the company as I am the line manager and involving myself in all other departmental work also. As a line manager, have to hear all the complaints of the customers also regarding the food quality and also other problems which they are facing regarding the meat that has been delivered to them and also have to look after the trainings that the company is giving to their new employees who have recently joined the company. As a line manager also have to monitor the PRPs and CCPs of the company (Liener, Ed.2012). The set up of the meat processing plant are also been maintained so that the systems are working in the right way or not and also in the machines which are used for processing the meat. I also have to look after the compliance of the company and if there is any then that should be solved without any such problems for the company and also for other employees working in the company (Stewart, and Amerine, 2012). As a line manager also have to solve the micro issues which are happening under my department so that it does not affect the working structure of the other employees. Audits need to be done to see that all the work which are being done are done properly or not without any difficulties and the audits are also being done to see whether the work which is done by the employees are done in the correct way or not. The employees who are been trained in the operating section are need to be given training on each and every part of the operating section so that if there is any problem then they can solve them by themselves only without taking help from outside (Stephen, and Phillips Eds.2014). The things which are been produced need to be tried before sending them for processing, preservation and packaging. As a line manager I also have to see the competition of the market so that our company also gives a tough competition to the other food processing competitors of the m arket. One of my major concerns should be that my company is maintaining the quality and the hygiene factors of the company or not and people are more conscious about these two factors (Cornelissen, 2011). For maintain the quality and the hygiene factors the company is sourcing the waste control, pest controls and also the chemicals which are being used for cleaning are well maintained or not. The hygiene factors need to be operative along with the titration checking of the chemicals (Campbell-Platt, Ed.2011). In a nutshell it can be said that the post of food science technologists is very crucial because they are looking after the health factor the consumers so that they do not consume any unhygienic things which will affect their health. As a food science technologist they should always keep the common public aware that what type of they should have for maintaining their health and also what steps they should take for maintain for keep the food qualities high. The technologists also have to maintain the hygienic sense of the company where the food is processed so that the customers do not have any problem regarding the processed food along with that the production of the company also needs to be maintained also the marketing section so that they can give a good competition to their competitors. So at last it can be said that we should consume healthy and hygienic food to ourselves fit and healthy. References Bucchi, M., and Trench, B. (Eds.) The Art of Heraldry essays

The Art of Heraldry essays Marvin Pakula defined heraldry as, The art of arranging and explaining in proper terms all that relates or pertains to the bearing of arms, crests, quarterings, and other hereditary marks of honor (18). The elements of crests, helmets, shields, and mottos constitute the coat of arms or heraldic device. Throughout history, heraldry has evolved in its function as a necessity of battle and social hierarchy, symbol of honor, and connection to genealogy. The science of heraldry is not well known and underestimated in its importance in the Middle Ages. The origin of the heraldic device, commonly known as the coat of arms, dates back to the early 1100s. The necessity for identification in battles and tournaments of the Middle Ages prompted the creation of heraldry. As tactics and strategies of warfare evolved, much of knights bodies became covered by a variety of armor. This introduced the problem of how to recognize the opponent (Wilkinson 19). An organized system was needed to eliminate this situation and thus, the use of heraldic devices began. This differentiation connected allies because leaders incorporated their allies arms into their own. It emphasized their support for one another and warned enemies of their relations. Heraldry was also a necessity for tournaments. Tournament contestants wore distinctive insignia on their shields similar to modern athletes wearing team colors and numbers. Frequent tournament winners came to be recognized by their coat of arms. Because of their success, families of the winners displayed the arms as a sign of accomplishment. According to research done at Central European University, Ambitious knights traveled around Europe fighting in tournaments and in doing so helped to spread the usages and conventions of heraldry across Europe (Self-Representation in Heraldry). Eventually, tournaments required the use of a her...

Week 6 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2

Week 6 - Essay Example The first evident characteristic of Baroque in this sculpture is drama and emotion, which makes the audience share the feelings of Bernini. Drama and emotion are brought out by the space around the statue. Another Baroque characteristic in this sculpture is twisting and uncontrolled torsos, which create a tortion that, enhance a dynamic representation of the figure. Finally, the sculpture depicts use of tenebrism as seen by the sharp contrast between the sculpture and its background. The background is completely dark while the sculpture itself is light. Michelangelo’s David is a High Renaissance work, which takes the form of a pyramidal composition revealing stability of the sculpture. This contrasts with Bernini’s David, which is a Baroque style represented by diagonal lines that show energy, drama, and movement. Hence, while Michelangelo focus on representing the beauty of David, Bernini is concerned with emotion that ignites reaction from the audience. On the other hand, Donatello’s David is an early Renaissance work that depicts the reemergence of nudity. In addition, the sculpture unlike Bernini’s shows no motion and drama. In Donatello’s sculpture, a victorious David is standing as a representation of the Republic of Florence blessed by God. Therefore, there is no emotion as in the sculpture of Bernini, but a mere representation of might and

Promotion of peace through international institutions Research Paper

Promotion of peace through international institutions - Research Paper Example The ability of international institutions to become active participants in the promotion of peace is mainly based on the fact that most of their work is conducted globally. In addition, because of their activities, it is normal for international institutions to develop relationships with the various governments and peoples with whom they work and this helps in a big way to promote the interests of peace across the globe (Hafner-Burton and Ron 360). Most international organizations receive massive funding from philanthropists, governments, and other well wishers and this funding is normally provided as a means of developing projects, especially in conflict prone areas, which will ensure the promotion of peace. Global peace is one of the most sought after objectives among a majority of the world population, but while this may be the case, it has become extremely difficult to achieve it without the help of international institutions. Most of the projects which have been designed to prom ote peace are more often than not run by international institutions because it is they which have the ability to reach areas across the world that require their services. Thus, international organizations are indispensable in the promotion of world peace and it is because of their existence that the majority of the world has achieved the peace it enjoys today. While many international organizations declare that their activities contribute to the wellbeing of the people and the achievement of the development goals of developing countries as well as peace, their level of success has yet to be seen in some instances. The economies of the countries, where these organizations conduct their activities, have substantially benefitted from the added contributions to peace that they have received as a result (Moli 40). The activities of international institutions that help to promote peace include their employees staying at the local hotels, buying souvenirs, and doing whatever else that the

The Crusades Essay -- essays research papers

After the death of Charlemagne in 814 and the eventual collapse of his empire, Europe was under attack and on the defensive. Nomadic people from Asia pillaged eastern and central Europe until the 10th century. Beginning about 800, several centuries of Viking raids disrupted life in northern Europe and even threatened Mediterranean cities. But the greatest threat came from the forces of Islam. Eventually these threats became real. Battles broke out and these battles turned to wars spanning from 1095 to 1229; all this over one city, Jerusalem, on country, Israel, one land, the Holy Land. Islamic forces had already conquered North Africa, the eastern shores of the Mediterranean, and most of Spain by the 8th century. They also established bases in Italy, greatly reduced the size and power of the Byzantine Empire, and took over its capital, Constantinople. Islam was spreading even faster than the Islamic army was conquering. The five pillars of Islam appealed to many, as did the Koran and the founder of Islam, Muhammad. Eventually, Islam posed a threat of a rival culture and religion which seemed appealing and unstoppable. By the 11th century the balance of power began to swing toward the West. The church became more centralized and stronger from a reform movement to end the practice of kings installing important clergy, such as bishops, in office. Popes were able to effectively unite European popular support behind them. This greatly contributed to the popular appeal of the first Crusades. Europe's population was growing, its urban life was beginning to revive, and bot h long distance and local trade were gradually increasing. European human and economic resources could now support new enterprises on the scale of the Crusades. A growing population created more wealth therefore meant a greater demand for goods from elsewhere. Thus worldly interests coincided with religious feelings about the Holy Land and so the crusades began. Pope Urban II, in a speech at Clermont in France in November 1095, called for a great Christian expedition to free Jerusalem from the Turks, a new Muslim power that had recently begun actively harassing peaceful Christian pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem. These factors were genuine causes, and at the same time, useful justifications for the pope's call for a Crusade. As a result, Urban's speech appealed to thousands of people of all classes... ...cceed, however, in wrestling from Saladin control of a chain of cities along the Mediterranean coast. By October 1192, when Richard finally left the Holy Land, the Latin Kingdom had been reconstituted. Smaller than the original kingdom and considerably weaker militarily and economically, the second kingdom lasted for another century. In conclusion, the crusades were a very important part of European history that really affects the world. These people fought for what they believed in and, maybe, if they had not fought for what they believed in, we would practice Islam instead of Christianity. Though many people lost their lives and times were tough, balance of power was up for grabs, and it went on for so long, the crusades were fought over the Holy Land to preserve and protect the aspects of each side's religion. These first three crusades show, the best, how important they were to everyone and how they could have affected the world today. In the end I tried to summarize but also try to give points that most people did not know about the crusades that make them significant, important, and needed to understand how these people can fight over something like this land, The Holy Land.

Students Absenteeism

INTRODUCTION Absenteeism, according to Merriam- Webster dictionary means chronic absence. In the context of the school it is the habitual or intentional failure from going to school. It cannot be denied that every now and then, students may miss some school activities and lessons. But it becomes a problem if the student will be away from school for many days. Chronic absentee students are placed at a disadvantage both socially and academically. They miss out on critical stages of social interaction and development with their peers and at the same time impacts negatively on their academic progress. This can result to low self-esteem, social isolation, and dissatisfaction that could well have precipitated non-attendance in the first place. School absenteeism is an alarming problem for administrators, teachers, parents, and the society in general, as well as for the pupils in particular. Unaccepted absence has a negative effect on peer relationship which could cause absence. Also, prolon ged absence can have deleterious effects for the child in later life. Students who are absent from the school are at the risk of dropping out of school early.Absenteeism also affects the teacher’s ability present class work in sequential and organized way. This can have an effect on the progress of all the students attending the class. One way of addressing this problem is to identify the causes why students become truant from school. Once they are singled out, understood and analyzed, specific actions and measures can be undertaken. This will eventually redound to the better performance of the students, teachers, and the school in general. II. Background of the study Jason Caringal is a student who belongs to heteroclass. He is already third year and he is not a shy type and silent student. He tends to sleep when he wants, and commit absences without informing his teachers. He have been absent two days in a week and though he will come to school he seldom participate in schoo l activities. III. Review of Related Literature A child or student’s interest is the most basic element that makes a group learning system work in an organize way. From the head to the base members of this organization, the condition of one may affect the others. This kind of educational system is comparable to a series light connection where in the state of one greatly affect the others. Population and percentage within that population which causes negative feedbacks can be primary reason of a poor product. The group or classroom type of organized way of learning has given that impact to the community being the commonly used system. Its effectiveness has been proven and has never been out of fashion. The relationship between the student’s physical presence on the class discussions and their learning performance are greatly relative.Class participation is just one way of measuring a child’s learning ability. In a class, the teacher-student relationship is one of the most fundamental units in student’s learning. When a student misses a day of school he/she must have lost the chance to hear others, interpret and analyzing the lessons or joins the interaction within the class. This lost is being rooted to two different courses and varying factors under these courses. The inquiry might be a family situation or an individual problem. Then, under these courses are the factors that contribute to a child’s regular truancy. These may be finance concerns, disability, psychotic imbalance, poor school climate, family health, transportation problems, drug and alcohol use, and differing community attitude towards education, (Savers, D. et al, 2005). Absenteeism in one angle view point is one of the most common causes of degrading performances of the students. Especially to those who are included in the advance intelligence curriculum, absenteeism causes a great lose and may result to giving up an aimed position. It can also cause social repl etion especially when a class is composed of a great number of students. This habit causes a dilemma to the school administration when big figures are involve and may decrease the school’s performance. On the other hand, contamination of sickness and disease can be avoidable because of the absences of a person (Marburger, D. ,2001) A student’s attendance may be the grounds of the results of his or her learning performance. School administration and faculty may also affect the absenteeism rate of their student, and so as the population of those who practice absenteeism affect the administration and the school itself.Absenteeism in students affects their school performances especially when they are in a group or teamwork for their assignments and projects. Since grouping will help develops the students’ cooperative and ability to share and gain knowledge from their group mates will also miss the opportunity of gaining knowledge from the absent student (Koppernhaver , 2003). According to Schmidt in 1983, absenteesm affects the students’ ability to get high scores in examinations which can cause the decreasing of grades or the student may fail and will cause him/her to repeat the same year level.Students who have spent time attending lectures or classes have a significant, positive effect on students’ performance. Students that participated exhibited higher grades and scores in examinations of the student. Marburger states tat the difficulty inferring the effect of absenteeism on performance because, once a student is absent in a class, he or she may miss the opportunity of learning other techniques. He found out that missing in class progresses the likelihood of missing examination material covered that day compared to the students who were present in the class (2001).It indicates that persistent absentees at an inner-city school in South Wales had significantly lower self concept self-esteem, more deprived socioeconomic backgroun ds, lower intelligence level, and more educational problems to control groups. Suggest that remedial measures for absenteeism should focus on raising self-concepts and changing attitudes toward school (Reid K. , 1982). Absenteeism is the most significant factor to affect the functioning of assembly lines in the development of the School Administration. Those high level of absenteeism have negative repression colleges’ effect to the production of quality levels of well trained students because of work specialization. The analysis of hundred absentees reveals hundred of instances of negative effect of building well discipline students for the future. In contrast to the empirical evidence it confirms that absenteeism produce higher level of problems, that value specialization among student has been significant reduced in the students’ achievements (Mateo R, 1998). Here are some causes of absenteeism . Lack of Subject Interest 2. Lack of Personal Interest in studies. 3. Ava ilable opportunities for entertainment like malls, movie halls etc. 4. The mental capacity of a students does not matches with the the course opted. 5. Too much Pamperness from family. 6. The poor teaching skills of a teacher also keep away student from the school. 7. Lack of confidence 8. Ragging also cause absenteeism 9. Lack of allied activities also causes absenteeism like no sports program, no fresher’s or farewell parties ,no annual day celebration etc. 10.Poor food of canteen may also be consider as one of the reason for absenteeism. 11. Poor infrastructure facility in school such as no place in a library to sit is also one of the reason of absenteeism. 12 Excess of homework and sometimes fear from examination keep away students from school/college. 13 Preparation for the participation in TV shows in dance musical or acting,G. K. contest programs also increase the percentage of absenteeism. 14. Preparation for examination causes absenteeism. 15. If school or college is far off the percentage of absenteeism may increase. 16.Over expectation of parents also deteriorate the attendance of a student when s/he is unable to cope with parent nature of making comparison among their own children of with the friends of their child. 17. Too much socialization causes absenteeism. It mostly happens during teen age and college when the students forms a group to freak out . 18. Inferiority complex within student causes absenteeism. V. Solutions made by the Teacher to remedy the cause of the problem A. Counselling approaches As a subject teacherer I talk to him and gave some advices in regards with his attitudes.I explained to him that it is not good to be always absent because it will affect his performance. It will be very hard for him to cope up with different activities. B. Parental involvement programs Parents know everything that happened to their child, with this as a solution I seek an advice from our guidance and from my CT. I shared that there is a need to talk with the parents of the child. I told to my student who is related to him that I’m going to talk with his guardians, and if they can able to visit the schools during their free time.During the visitation we talk the problem of his son, it became clear to us real reason of his always being absent and I asked also for their help in order to minimize his absenteeism. C. Student – Centered Agreements My student and I made an agreement, that though he made absences he should make sure that he will complete all the outputs and requirements upon submission in order for him not to be late an all his task or responsibilities. We also agreed that he will not commit absences unless he cannot carry himself in school. VI. Results or FindingsAfter adopting several solutions, I came up with this result. Student’s attendance is always affected by the health condition. Once the student is not feeling well the tendency of it is to absent on their class. If the teacher di d not give any concern with the problem of the student, definitely the performance of the student will fail. Otherwise if the parents did not coordinate to the school in regards with their son, problem may really occur. VII. Recommendations Having the basis from the findings the researchers offer the following recommendations that can be taken into considerations: . The school administration with the parents of the concerned students must conduct and effective conference dialogue with the help of findings of the study. 2. Solutions to the different areas of difficulty due to absenteeism can be taken action by individuals in their respective fields. 3. Orientation and briefing on these students might be conducted to all least they would commit to absenteeism with the help of the study. 4. Removing Sickness Parents, teachers, can control sickness by emphasizing upon school students to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and health.Physical check up must be carried out as programme . These measures will not only check the absences but will improve the overall health of the school pupils.
